For Neighbors of the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve

How to Help

Living near or exploring Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve has deepened our connection to and commitment to preserving its unique natural environment.

Take Action

Planting your Garden

Others have valiantly worked for years, doing the heavy lifting for all of us, to achieve endangered species status for the Western Monarch Butterfly. Now it is time for each of us to step up and do our small part to help our beautiful friend survive into the future. You can help make this dream come true because your home is uniquely located next to or near Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve. It is our goal to turn the Peñasquitos Canyon rim into a superhighway for Western Monarch Butterfly migration by planting hundreds of small butterfly-friendly gardens along the way. If you are willing to turn part of your back yard garden into a WMB way-station, you can help the Monarch to survive another day as it moves along its migration path.

Ready to Make a Difference?

By planting milkweed, you provide a place for the WMB caterpillar to hatch and eat while it turns into a butterfly. Our program will assist you in any way needed to create your own Monarch Butterfly Garden.
